How to get married in Michigan ...
We provide beautiful, memorable and meaningful marriage ceremonies and marriage license legalizations, with the elegance and honor that is respectfully due couples. Our style is an alternative for couples who prefer not to be married at the courthouse, and who do not desire a traditional wedding. This by no means diminishes the beauty and richness of the experience that we offer. It is simply an alternate style.
We address all aspects of our service upfront so that we can be comfortable knowing that we have the same goals in mind. All information within our site describes the service that we provide. We have designed - and priced - our services for couples who desire to be married in the style offered.
Our packages are as fully described on our "Details & Prices" page:
"Marriage License Legalization" without Ceremony:
Couples who reserve our "Marriage License Legalization" arrive with their two witnesses. All parties must be present to begin the solemnization (signing) of all copies of the marriage license. Again, we request that couples arrive with their witnesses as delays in the arrival of one or both witnesses may result in the inabiliy to proceed with your marriage. Reserved time-frame is 30 minutes (example - arrival 1 pm, departure 1:30 pm). Legalization of all copies of your marriage license (2 or 3 depending on the county) may take approx. 15 - 20 minutes, and begins upon your arrival.
This package perfectly suits couples who do not want: ceremony, vows, ring exchange or opportunities for photos, and who prefer to arrive casually dressed with only their two legal witnesses in attendance (no children of any age or additional adults). Please note that if you desire to have any of the aforementioned, review our very affordable ceremony package detailed below.
"Marriage License Legalization with Ceremony":
We offer a lovely, relaxed and elegant experience. Upon your arrival you will enter our beautifully decorated setting to soft, classic music. Couples and guests all arrive and enter at the reserved time. Your marriage ceremony commences approx. 10 - 15 minutes after your arrival.
Our intimate, well-planned legal marriage ceremony proceeds without rehearsal, processionals, or attendants standing with the couple and Officiant.
The following is an outline of our legal marriage ceremony:
With Bride, Groom and Officiant standing at the fireplace in the Parlor, or trellis in the Garden Arbor, our Officiant welcomes your guests, elegantly performs your legal ceremony, includes the exchange of ceremony vows and rings (optional), pronounces you "married", and introduces you to your guests as a married couple. The marriage ceremony, is approx. 15 minute in length.
Couples are welcome to share their personally written vows, or brief sentiments, with each other during the ceremony, if desired.
Solemnization of all copies of the marriage license commences immediately following your ceremony, and may take approx. 10 - 15 minutes. Total reserved time-frame for "Marriage License Legalization with Ceremony" is 1 hour, from arrival - departure as outlined above.
Couples are welcome to share their personally written vows, or brief sentiments, with each other for personlization/customization of their ceremony, if desired, however our Officiant's legal marriage ceremony service is performed without review, edits or customization, and includes question-style vows within the ceremony, so there is nothing that requires review or memorization. Our Michigan Marriage Officiant, provides exceptional, professional services, and performs all services at this venue.
Couples who are married here with us are looking for an alternative to the traditions of a wedding. They do not desire bridal suite, seclusion room, an "entry" by the Bride down an "aisle" to the groom, a processional of attendants, attendants and/or witnesses standing during the ceremony, customized ceremony/vows, unity candle, sand or flower ceremony, specific music played or performance by musicians. Everyone arrives fully dressed and prepared for their ceremony.
We encourage couples who want a wedding with traditional wedding rituals to communicate with a wedding planner and reserve a wedding venue as this is not the service that we offer. Consider your preferences prior to making your reservation, as requests for changes/additions to our detailed offering above will not take place. Our pricing, services, decor and time-frame are offered as a beautiful and affordable package, that is non-negotiable.
Photography with our "Marriage License Legalization and Ceremony" is welcome from your arrival - departure, in your ceremony setting (either Parlor or Garden Arbor). The grounds surrounding the building are not available for use. If you desire additional time/settings for photography or action shots, consider having this take place at the location that you will be enjoying your celebratory gathering/meal, or perhaps a park. We've seen beautiful photography captured without tripods, light stands and reflectors. Due to experiences with
them falling, and being knocked over, for the safety of all they are not allowed.
Couples who choose our "Marriage License Legalization" are looking for a focused professional meeting, during which solemnization of the marriage license takes place, without opportunities for photography.
Our capacity is 10 total: Bride, Groom and 8 people/children of any age in attendance - 2 of whom are 18 or older, and will sign the marriage license as the required "legal witnesses". Any age child is included in our capacity. Please review and confirm your desired number in attendance prior to making a reservation, as we will not exceed our capacity. No additional persons or children shall be on the property, in vehicles or in the drive at any time. It is your responsibility to inform your guests of your agreement and insure that they do not bring additional persons or children.
Regretfully, couples have arrived with more in attendance than they agreed, and attempted to negotiate at the door. It is awkward and disrespectful to the additional guests that must leave the property. In an attempt to avoid this, and maintain the diginity of the occasion, we must state that arriving with additional persons (of any age) will simply forfeit reservation and payment.
When couples arrive they appreciate having a beautiful location to be married. In order to provide couples with such a setting for their ceremony and memorable photography, we have very simple, common-sense policies that are reasonable for a setting such as ours.
The following is not conducive to the condition the property, is not allowed, and in no way detracts from your enjoyment:
• Food and beverages, including water/baby bottles, sippy cups and to-go cups cannot be brought in the ceremony settings (indoors and out). Consumption of both can be arranged before/after your 30 - 60 minutes here.
• You are welcome to bring a bouquet, corsage, etc. for your ceremony. Personal decorating, additional floral arrangements and/or re-arrangement of our furnishings or decor does not take place.
• We are absolutely a "non-smoking" venue/property.
• No pets (of any size) are allowed in the ceremony settings, on the property, on leashes or left in vehicles.
• Confetti, rice, petals, glitter, etc. is not to be tossed or thrown on the property, ceremony settings or drive/parking area. (from experience, we know it's often impossible to pick up prior to another ceremony ; )
• Alcoholic beverages are not allowed anywhere on the property or parking area/drive/vehicles. We reserve the right to ask any individuals, or entire groups, to leave the property if the behavior is disrespectful to our property or inappropriate to the legal service that we are providing.
As a legal marriage venue, our focus is providing a setting that is conducive to solemnizing your marriage license; legal documents that must be completed properly in order to be accepted for filing by your County Clerk.
Children of all ages are welcome to be in attendance, and are included in your total number of "guests" on-site. Again our "capacity" includes every person of any age, including children/infants. As we are not a child-oriented business, we do not have accommodations for children. Children of all ages must remain with their parent/caregiver, seated or held within the ceremony setting at all times.
If a child's behavior, is such that departure from the ceremony setting is desired to maintain the integrity of the ceremony and/or signing of the marriage license, an early exit to their vehicle is the only option, as we do not have areas for children to play or be distracted (indoors or outdoors). Like-wise, we do not have an area for diaper-changing and/or feeding in our intimate and focused setting. This has not been a problem for couples with children in attendance, during the short time-frame that they are here, when they have prior knowledge of this information.
It is the responsibility of the Bride and Groom to inform their guests of their agreement to our policies, and ultimately the Bride and Groom are responsible for their guests.
A map, directions and your agreed upon arrival/departure time should be provided to witnesses and guests. Our service will be provided within the time-line as agreed. Late arrival/start will not extend your departure time, and may minimize the services. Our agreed upon schedule does not allow for delay, as it may infringe upon our preparations for, and/or arrival of, others.

For convenience sake, we no longer use our former landline, 734-669-5347.
For everyone's comfort, note that your reserved "arrival time" is the time that you and your guests will arrive. Our driveway, parking area and facilities are unavailable until your reserved arrival time. Your ceremony does not begin at your "arrival time", it begins 10-15 min. after your arrival. Please be sure to confirm your reserved "arrival time" with your guests. We do not have accommodations for early arrivals. Early arrival is unneccesary. If you desire to have your guests gather and socialize prior to your ceremony, plan for an alternative location to do so. As we host more that one ceremony daily, we will be preparing for your arrival, or possibly providing services for another couple. Again, the drive will not be open until your reserved "arrival time".
"Visit & Meet" - Most couples are married on short-notice and do not desire to reserve time to meet with our Officiant and visit the setting. A visit to our ceremony setting and meeting with our Officiant is not required. We do not include time for a "Visit & Meet" in our very affordable package prices. If a couple desires a visit, and if the time-frame and our schedule allows, we will reserve the ceremony setting, and schedule our Officiant to arrive and meet with the couple (no children or others in attendance).
A "Visit & Meet" takes place Monday - Thursday mornings only, and is scheduled around the reservations of couples getting married. The fee to reserve our ceremony setting and Officiant is $75. and is not deducted from a package price, as it is a completely separate service. If a "Visit & Meet" is desired, you must communicate prior to making a reservation.
Drop-in visits are not welcome or accommodated, they are intrusive to other couples reserved time to be married, and to us. Our setting is on private property, and is not open to the public without a reservation.
Please confirm that your requested date/time/package will accommodate your needs. With our very low pricing, payment in full at the time that a reservation is requested, is immediately applied to secure both your date and time with our Officiant and venue. Therefore we do not issue refunds or reschedule a date/time, after a reservation has been secured/paid.
All details and description of the services offered within our website, and here within your agreement, are shared prior to securing your reservation. We stress that if you desire inclusions outside of our service as described - do not secure a reservation. When accepting your payment, we consider it to be your "Acknowledgement of Agreement" to all terms of service, as described within.
If you did not secure your reservation by the time noted in your email, your Payment link has expired.
